Their name is derived from the German affe ("ape", "monkey")

and pinscher ("terrier") because of their comical and animated

behavior. Some believe their name fits their appearance. With their

serious yet mischievous expression,  playful spirit and affectionate

heart they are bound to win yours!
Affenpinschers
are comical!
They are great
for apartment
or country living.
They make a
great family pet
providing there is
supervision for both
pup and child. Affens are
devoted companions and they need firm but loving guidance! Grooming is fairly easy with a trim around the ears, feet and tail. Their coat is easy to care for.
One of the most ancient of toy dogs originating in Europe. The
Most mature Affenpinschers have a head of shaggy hair with a natural cape or mane flowing down over their shoulders. Their low shedding terrier type coat is kept shorter from the shoulders back to the tail and down the sides of the body and upper thighs. They come in many colours with black being the most common. The breed standard suggests this is a tiny dog averaging 8lbs but most often it does not breed to this size. The larger ones are healthy and make much better family pets anyway in our opinion.

People best suited for affens are people looking for a young child to care for. Affens are emotionally dependant on their family and have a cautious nature towards strangers.

Most are quiet but when they do get excited its a howl and whine rather than a bark. They are quite busy in the house and dislike being left alone for too long even with another dog.

They are big leapers, if they can climb it they will leap from it so you need to keep a watchful eye so they don't get hurt. Although eager to please when things get routine they become bored and will challenge your sense of humour.

They are excellent travellers and easy to maintain a beautiful coat with a quick brush each day. They are not recommended to live with small children just too much competition as they crave to be the center of attention.

Sit on their spine with back legs extended.

They're unable to resist human food - use this to your advantage.

Laugh and they will become quite animated.

Intelligent - push a kibble just out of their reach and watch...

Have a staring match and see who caves first.

Mundane household chores suddenly become more interesting.

Prance on their hind legs.
Our affens are $1,200 regardless of size or gender. Their ears and tails are left natural, most are black and as they mature white hairs emerge. They range in size from 4 to 15lbs, healthy, robust and intelligent. They are rare therefore we breed only when there is enough interest.
