We have busy lives just like any family. My husband is a baker and I have a graphic artist background our four children have been homeschooled. As our children move on and maintain busy lives of their own some still help a great deal with our dogs whenever they can when it comes to grooming, cleaning, delivering puppies, vet vists and ofcourse playing and nurturing.

We have been breeding for just a few years but rest assured we'll be around for a long time as this has been a great fit for our family. We're proud to be able to offer anyone the chance to own a loyal and most loving companion.

We are located just outside the city of Orillia in Ontario Canada. We don't operate out of a kennel but rather our home therefore our time and our privacy are important to us.

Rather than just placing an ad when puppies are available I chose to create a website to lend a better view of your puppies first 3 months or so. E-mailing as opposed to telephone conversations is easier for me with alot going on. I'm able to answer all of your questions without having any distractions and saves me time having records of our conversations as I talk with many people. By sharing with me who you are and what sort of environment you can provide our puppy helps a great deal so I'm able to pick out the best puppy I think would thrive in your home. Once a rapport is established you become a part of the process and are up to date on medical and social happenings with your puppy.

We keep puppies until they are 3 months and older without exception. This gives them time to learn from their mom and surrogate moms what is appropriate doggie behavior. This is crucial in having a well adjusted and easily trainable pup that will blossom into an easy to live with and easy to love companion. We concentrate our time on rearing all of our canine companions and were fortunate enough to obtain a wonderful champion male that is the sire to many of our puppies. All of our puppies are well socialized with other toy dogs and our two large dogs plus a small family of cats.

Prior to getting your puppy I suggest reading all you can on puppy proofing your home. Toy breeds are easily hurt so do take care. Another thing you can do is interview some veterinarians and then establish a good rapport. This is essential for the future health of your new family member. Health insurance packages are easily available and something you may want to check into. I provide a list of products that may be useful to you and your puppy and going shopping prior to his or her arrival is a good idea. Once you have your new puppy I'm just an e-mail away to answer any questions you may have. Each and every personality is different. Some pups take to their new home instantly while others do not. In the first few weeks please ensure your puppy feels safe and secure. A simple rule on initial meeting 'less is best'.

For local families you are welcome to come here and pick him/her up on the day your puppy is ready to go home or we can meet you. I try to group it so meetings are all done on the same day and all flights are done on the same day. It just simplifies things for me and makes it much easier on our busy family.

Our goal is to provide you with a healthy puppy and eventually a long life companion. Our puppies are honestly represented. All of our dogs eat Max Nutro Small Bites and Ultra Nutro Puppy. Occasionally picky puppies will get Max Nutro in the purple can and then weaned to kibble. Our little ones are weaned onto Esbilac in larger litters. Each pup is checked by our veterinarian at different stages of their life to ensure things are going well. They get their dewclaws and tails done on their 4th day of life which is standard. They are wormed at the appropriate ages well typically with pyr-a-pam.They receive anywhere from 1 to 3 killed vaccines depending on when they leave and what is best for that individual puppy. They are groomed as often as needed and just before they go to their new home. We take great care is rearing our puppies. They're raised with their mom and introduced to other dogs gradually. They don't come out of the nursery until they are displaying signs of wanting to venture out. I recommend any person wishing to share their life with a toy dog to read all you can on hypoglycemia which is low blood sugar. We keep a tube of Nutri-Cal or Nutri Drops handy for this reason.

It is my responsibility to obtain papers for your puppy from the Canadian Kennel Club. All puppies are Canadian Kennel Club registered or registerable. Our adult dogs are CKC registered or dually registered depending on their country of birth. A CKC pup can easily be registered with AKC and vise versa as long as you reside in the country you are seeking registration papers from. Our method of permanent identification is microchipping. All puppies are microchiped for their safety.

Potty training begins as soon as possible. Once puppies begin to venture out of their den a puppy pad is placed right at the door. Puppies 'go' when they are moving onto a new area with new smells and usually 20 minutes after drinking. When you get your new puppy it is important to watch them very closely and reward them when they go in the area you have designated for them and never clean up their mess in front of them. Some people think it is mean to use a crate but a puppy sees it as a safe place in addition you reap the benefits because she or he typically do not soil their crate. As soon as your little one is let out she or he will go and we use "go, go, go" as the action word and before long it becomes thee word and they will do it on command. I often get asked if they are trained upon leaving my home and the answer is no. I follow the training method but once in a new home you will need to establish your own set of rules. Some pups are so easily trained while others don't seem to get it for a while. Just be consistent. I know its difficult because they are too cute but you and your puppy will be happier in the long run.

All pups are guaranteed up until their second birthday for any congenital defects that result in loss of life. Once the puppy leaves our home we advise you to take her or him to your vet for another thorough examination. The quicker you take your puppy in the quicker we can confirm that you plan to keep your puppy. In addition there is less time to bond and less stress on you if you need to return the puppy. If your vets findings are not satisfactory to you or you decide you do not want your puppy after the vet check I will take her or him back and refund you the money you paid for your puppy with the exception of your initial $200 'deposit' nor will I refund air line fee if any. All airline fees are your responsibility unless prior arrangements were made. If at anytime throughout your pups life you are in a situation where you cannot keep your puppy or dog you are welcome to return your puppy or dog to Fancy Face Sentimental and I will do my best at finding the best home for her or him and try to recoup some of your money. Our primary concern is ofcourse our puppies.

Our prices reflect the quality of care we provide for our dogs. They are comfortably spoiled as they are nurtured loving companions. Everyday medical, emergency medical, shelter, food, grooming supplies, misc expenses and ofcourse lots of toys are just a few of the costs in addition to advertising. After that pricing is broken down by pedigree and size. A pedigree that has many champions tells us that the genetic make-up of your puppy is strong. People that show their dogs put in tremendous effort therefore their prices tend to be high. Most show breeders go to great lengths to improve their line. That brings us to sizing. Generally the smaller the pup the higher the price. It is expensive to breed smaller dogs because they tend to need C-sections and pups sometimes medical care. In addition our family rotates sleepless nights to watch these very fragile pups. To estimate size at maturity they are weighed twice once at 8 weeks and that number is tripled. Then again at 12 weeks and that number is doubled. Some may grow more than expected and some won't it is difficult to predict. Something to consider other than weight is build. Some pups are tall and dainty while others short and stalky so if their weight is the same one will look much smaller. What we tend to do is look at the parents of your pup and the pedigree to help give us an idea of just what size they will be.

There is alot of good information out there on buying tips on the net. Most of the people that I talk to are very well educated and know what to look for when seeking a puppy from good breeding practices. I think the most important thing is not to rush into anything and trust your instinct. There are so many guidelines out there meant to protect you. Most people that choose the life of breeding and rearing put in an incredible amount of time and effort and are continuously learning and trying to achieve the best results which are puppies that are healthy right through to old age, wonderfully socialized and as close to the kennel clubs standard as possible. May you find the puppy of your dreams. |
