Love seekers at heart. To live happily they need human

companionship. They get along well with other animals but will

confront fearlessly if they so choose. No garden is safe as they

love to dig! One can never be owned by just one Yorkie.
Yorkies are playful!
They are great for
apartment or
country living.
They make a
great family pet
providing there is
supervision for both
pup and child. They
have an independent will
but are devoted companions! One will feel protected with this little dog around. As long as grooming is done regularly their coat is easy to care for.
First recognition of the breed dates back to 1861known then as a Borken-Haired Scotch Terrier. They became CKC recognized in 1888. The Yorkshire Terrier or Yorkie as it has come to be known was originally bred as a rat hunter. Not a very glamourous life style but then it was rebred to be smaller and became popular in the Victorian era.
Yorkies are full of energy and self-importance! Their head is carried high and they walk with confidence. A Yorkies body is compact and well proportioned.  Their hair is long and parted on the face and from the base of the head to the end of the tail. Their hair is straight and hair flows down the sides of their body.

How To Name Your Puppy
The CKC requires that you choose one name PRIOR to picking up your puppy. Remember no two purebred dogs of the same breed can share the same name therefore odd spelling is suggested in order to increase your chances of acceptance, see example below. There is room for 30 characters which include spaces. For ideas you can select the name of the parent and go through the pedigree. Kennel names cannot be repeated nor can any name from the royal family. Have Fun! :)

Let's say you want to call your puppy Holli. Now Holli needs a more official name just as we have a first and last name and some a few middle names. You can include the call name Holli in her registration name or leave it out altogether.
